Matt Hulett – Principal – South Carolina
After college in 1998, Matt began his career in lighting sales followed by a sales role with electrical distributor CES. Matt then partnered to form a start up wholesale division in erosion control products. His initial responsibility was for local accounts and with much success, quickly earned him responsibility for national accounts such as Ferguson and John Deere. In August 2009, Matt joined S.L. Hulett & Associates. Since 2009, Matt has had an incredible impact on the South Carolina territory with each of our key lines. Matt has been recognized by those factories and his customers for his achievements. In 2010, Matt earned Rookie of the Year awards from Kichler and Fanimation. In 2011, Matt earned an Outstanding Achievement Award from WAC Lighting. Matt is the current chair of the American Lighting Association Young Executive Task Force. Matt has an incredible work ethic, an engaging personality, is very competitive, and has a commitment to excellence in all he does. Matt lives in the metro Columbia, South Carolina area and covers all of South Carolina except Myrtle Beach.
Ryan Berlin - Managing Partner - Western North Carolina & Southwestern Virginia
Ryan has been in sales and sales management roles in the electrical industry for over 14 years with over 6 years specifically on the light fixture side of the business. Ryan has been recognized as a consistent top sales performer at each company he has worked for earning numerous sales and leadership awards. In addition to field sales experience, Ryan brings sales and operations management experience as well as a technology background to the agency. Utilizing his technology and industry experience, Ryan has authored two LED courses accredited by the American Institute of Architects. Ryan has spoken at various industry events and presented courses to thousands of lighting specialists, architects, interior designers and lighting designers. Ryan holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and lives in the metro Charlotte, North Carolina area. He is a volunteer in several capacities at his church, homeowner’s association, and activities his children are involved in. Ryan covers Western North Carolina and the Rock Hill and Fort Mill areas in South Carolina.
John Thomas – Eastern North Carolina & Southeastern Virginia
John has over twenty-five years of experience with the “two step” distribution model and has a long history of success servicing distributors in the office products/office machine industry. For seventeen years John worked with ACCO Brands Inc. where he managed several geographic territories. His most recent position was as a Business Development Manager covering the Mid-Atlantic territory working with ACCO’s national account distribution channel. He managed all of ACCO’s mega dealer branches including Office Depot, Office Max and Staples. He was named Staples’ Mid Atlantic vendor representative of the year in 2005. During his tenure at ACCO Brands his job functions included product training, overseeing promotions and conducting business reviews. In addition, he was responsible for dealer revenue/margin goals of ACCO branded products, and partnered with dealer account managers on large sales opportunities. Prior to being with ACCO Brands, John worked for Schleicher of America as a regional manager and national support manager for Schleicher’s Intumus line of paper shredders. John is a graduate of Rutgers University and lives in Wake Forest, North Carolina. He is also a volunteer house leader for Habitat for Humanity, Wake County, NC. He is self-driven, hard working and has a sincere and engaging personality as well as an unwavering commitment to professionalism and integrity. John covers Eastern North Carolina and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Linda Ruck - Western North Carolina
After gaining her degree in Consumer and Family Science with an emphasis in interior design, specifically kitchen and lighting design, Linda continued her education and also earned a degree in Business Management and Marketing. The degrees provided a foundation for the 15 years working in lighting showrooms. Her experiences in inside and outside sales with a variety of customers including homeowners and builders, moved her into the roles of sales management and helping to open new showrooms. Then, Linda took her showroom experience and became a manufacturer’s representative and has worked with some of the best names in lighting for the last 15 years. As exciting new technologies like LED and innovations in merchandising and business management have changed the lighting industry, Linda has enjoyed having the opportunity to bringing new concepts and ideas to her customers. As a member of the American Lighting Association and ALA Certified Lighting Specialist, she has continued her educational pursuits to bring the latest in lighting technology to her customers.
Stephanie Berlin - Charlotte area
Stephanie has over ten years of sales and customer service experience in residential and commercial low voltage technology integration including extensive work in the home building industry. Stephanie's background in technology systems has given her a quick start in lighting with LED and other technologies playing a bigger role in the industry. Stephanie calls on electrical distributors and specifiers in the greater Charlotte area.
Beth Clark - South Carolina
Beth has over twenty years of design, sales, and project management experience in the contract furniture and lighting industries including twelve years as a lighting showroom manager, buyer and top sales producer. Beth has a bachelor's degree in interior design from the University of Arkansas, as well as an LS (Lighting Specialist) from the American Lighting Association where she also has served on the Showroom Steering Committee. Beth lives in Mt. Pleasant with her husband Jim and enjoys horseback riding, reading, travel and wine. She volunteers at East Cooper Meals on Wheels and Rein and Shine. Beth calls on electrical distributors and specifiers in South Carolina.
Jana Baker – Office Manager
Jana provides sales support to our agency allowing Matt, John, and Ryan to maximize their time in the field. Jana constantly stays in touch with our customers monitoring the telephone, email, and fax lines at the office. She helps to coordinate orders, RGAs, and quotations as well as general follow up items with our customers and factory partners.
